Verified registered dietitian. Our team has personally checked the credentials of this dietitian.
Hi, I’m Dena, a registered dietitian nutritionist with over a decade of experience specializing in women’s health, endocrine disorders, autoimmune disease, and gut health, weight control and many more conditions. My journey in health sciences began with a Bachelor’s in Health Sciences from Trident University International, and I went on to earn both a Bachelor’s and Master of Science in Dietetics from D’Youville University. These academic foundations, along with hands-on experience across 11 diverse clinical settings, have given me the skills and insights to work effectively with individuals from all walks of life.
In my practice, I’ve had the privilege of creating and implementing programs that make a difference. For instance, I launched “Let’s Get Cooking,” a diabetes management program at Jericho Road Family Practice in Buffalo, NY, to help individuals better understand and manage their health through practical, nourishing meal planning. At King’s College Hospital in London, I founded “Make Every Meal Count,” a program that empowered patients to improve their well-being through nutrition. I’ve also assisted in specialized wards like renal and stroke units, ensuring that nutritional support plays an invaluable role in patient recovery.
Currently, I’m pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Developmental Psychology at Capella University, driven to deepen my understanding of the mind-body connection and how it influences nutrition and health outcomes. My mission is simple yet profound: To empower as many people as possible to achieve better health. Having grown up in an underserved community myself, I’m particularly passionate about supporting underrepresented groups and ensuring they receive compassionate, accessible, and inclusive health guidance.
My approach to nutrition is firmly rooted in Health at Every Size and weight-inclusive care. I believe that everyone deserves respectful, personalized support, regardless of size or background. I advocate for a holistic approach to health, working with each person to meet their unique goals in a way that feels both achievable and meaningful.
Beyond my clinical work, I’m an e-commerce entrepreneur and recently published my first book, I Am Not My Weight, a guide to embracing body positivity and finding peace with food. In my free time, I enjoy exploring new cultures, reading, researching, and creating wire-woven jewelry.
If you’re looking for a dietitian who is both compassionate and deeply knowledgeable, with a commitment to delivering equitable, results-driven care, I’d love to work with you. Let’s embark on a journey to better health together!
I accept most Aetna, Anthem BC, BCBS, United Healthcare, & Sana Benefits plans.
