Devon Guy is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator providing nutrition counselling services to individuals, couples and families across Canada.
Devon was born and raised in Calgary, Canada and began working as an international model from the age of 16. She had always been passionate about health and wellness, but saw first-hand how the societal pressures to stay thin can come with major sacrifices to our health. She knew there had to be a better way to be healthy, fit and have a positive relationship with food without extreme restrictions or strict diets.
Her interest in nutrition and wellness led her to obtain a Bachelors of Nutritional Sciences specializing in Dietetics from McGill University. She began working as a deititian in chronic disease management, and she saw the impact of the food environment on peoples behaviors and shifts towards unhealthy lifestyles. The growing availability of overly processed and convenience foods has contributed to high rates of nutrition-related chronic diseases and has made the healthy choices less obvious or convenient for many people.
Wanting to make a difference in the health and nutrition of the public, she went on to complete a Masters of Public Health specializing in Health Promotion studies from the University of Alberta. Her work in community health promotion focused on the development and evaluation of Indigenous school nutrition programs and community-based diabetes prevention and management programs.
She now works with clients and families through a virtual practice. She loves finding the best nutrition plan for her clients, helping to solve their food or lifestyle-related concerns. She believes in treating her clients in an individualized and holistic approach, in the context of their daily lives, cultures and beliefs.
