About

I am Joy Erdile (formerly Kiddie), the lead Registered Dietitian at BetterByDesign Nutrition, and I have been supporting clients’ nutritional needs since 2008. I hold a postgraduate degree in Human Nutrition, and my published research was in mental health nutrition. In addition to years of delivering services from my Coquitlam office, I have provided virtual services for over a decade using a secure click-to-join telehealth portal. In addition to BC, I am licensed in Ontario and Alberta, and I provide evidence‑based, practical nutrition recommendations tailored to individual needs.

Three Core Specialities: Routine Health, Digestive Health, Therapeutic Diets

Services are available in the following 3 areas:

1) Routine Health: healthy eating and weight management, chronic disease management (type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, fatty liver), prenatal nutrition. PCOS, hypothyroid, menopause, and healthy aging.

2) Digestive Health: IBS, including low FODMAP, support for newly diagnosed Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, and SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth).

3) Therapeutic Diets: ketogenic diet therapy (ketogenic metabolic therapy), including 3:1 and a 2:1 therapeutic ketogenic diet as an adjunct treatment for physical and mental health, and dietary support for symptoms of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome – hypermobility subtype (hEDS), Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), including histamine intolerance, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS).

Meal Plan Options

Meal Plans are based on the specific goals set related to the package chosen, risk factors, food likes/dislikes, and religious, cultural, or ethical food restrictions, if any.  Dietary patterns available include vegetarian, Mediterranean, or low-carb and keto (previously offered through a dedicated low-carb division), and all routine Meal Plans can be designed from an anti-inflammatory perspective, at no extra cost.

Multicultural Meal Plans

I specialize in multicultural Meal Plans and have in-depth knowledge of the food and cultural practices from many regions, including parts of Asia, South Asia, North and Central Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East, the Balkans, and the Mediterranean.

Not Sure Where to Begin?

Not everyone’s needs fall into neat categories, so if you’re unsure where to start, the Initial Hourly Consultation is perfect for that. You can meet with me, share your health background and the different approaches you’ve tried, and we can discuss together the most cost-effective way to combine services.  Should you start there and decide to move forward by taking one of my packages, then any remaining time in the Initial Hourly Consultation can be ‘banked’ and used later for follow-up services.
